Greeters? What are they?
Greeters enjoy welcoming visitors to their town as though they were friends. They give freely of their time in order to share their enthusiasm for the place with others, via a walk and a truly friendly encounter. Greeters know their town well, are passionate about it and know how to welcome others. Greeters are not professional guides, but volunteers who act as ambassadors for their area. They don’t take you on a guided tour, but on a personal walk around town!
Launched in New York (by Big Apple Greeter) in 1992, Greeters can now be found in many countries. So the concept has crossed the Atlantic. The Office de Tourisme Intercommunal de Saint-Nazaire set up its own Greeters programme in March 2019. Thanks to coverage in local press and media, numerous inhabitants of the Saint-Nazaire area have responded to the call!
Who are they?
The Greeters from our destination are passionate about Saint-Nazaire and the Brière Marshes, enabling visitors to discover these parts via their insights as inhabitants. Truly ambassadors of the area, they will happily share their favourite things and even give you their top tips!
